FRONTIER

2009 PRODUCER, DOUG AITKEN WORKSHOP

Installed as part of the Enel Contemporanea, Frontier was projection mapped to a roofless, minimalist structure, interrupted by small, glowing windows constructed on the tip of the Isola Tiberina, a natural island in the heart of Rome. The film features artist Ed Ruscha on a day-long journey through an urban wasteland shot in Rome, Los Angeles, Israel and South Africa. As scenes build tension and riots erupt around him, the protagonist moves steadily, caught between action and perception. Ultimately the story folds in on itself, leaving the narrative perpetually unresolved.
