SONG 1

2012 PRODUCER, DOUG AITKEN WORKSHOP

Installed on the exterior of the Hirshhorn Museum in the spring of 2012, SONG1 employed a series of seamless projections to turn the museum inside-out creating a dynamic 360 ̊ viewing experience. The film uses the structure of an iconic pop song, I Only Have Eyes For You, to weave together the narratives of a disparate cast of characters. Over 25 actors, artists and musicians, including Tilda Swinton, Beck, Devendra Banhart, Lucky Dragons, John Doe and No Age, appeared in the film and contributed recorded versions of the song to the soundtrack. A few even took part in a live scoring of the film installation on the steps of the museum in Washington D.C. during the final night of projections. The event was documented by Pitchfork and displayed live on YouTube’s homepage.
