STATION TO STATION
2013 PRODUCER, DOUG AITKEN WORKSHOP
In the fall of 2013, the Doug Aitken Workshop partnered with Levis to create a moving platform for the collision of art, music and film. Part traveling festival and part ongoing digital media experience, each of the 10 stops was a carefully choreographed event that invited audiences to explore a varied mix of art installations, live performances and experiential media. Set up as a not-for-profit entity, event proceeds from Station to Station went to fund non-traditional arts programming in museums and cultural institutions of the towns visited. Breaking the confines of traditional art venues, this traveling mash-up of music, film, new media and technology sought to inspire creativity, discovery and innovation at a local level all across the country. From leading initial conversations with Levis and Amtrak to curating, securing and directing the individual artists and musicians taking part in each performance, Chris was intimately involved in all aspects of design and execution of Station to Station. The 72-minute documentary extension of the piece premiered at Sundance 2015 and was picked up and distributed by Submarine Entertainment.
